Glycolic Peel

Glycolic Acid, a natural constituent of sugar cane, exfoliates the skin by

  • enhancing cell turnover,
  • evens the distribution of pigmentation,
  • refines the appearance of pore size and
  • helps smooth the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

Within the dermis, this AHA increases the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and collagen fibers, for skin that appears firmer. Neostrata Professional Glycolic Acid Peels deliver optimal efficacy at an ideal pH and concentration. Formulations are designed to minimize redness and irritation.

Picking the correct exfoliation levels for your skiin

Glycolic peels come in a wide range of concentration.  Although some 20% peels can be used at home, the professional peels with concentrations up to 70% must be administered by a professional.

Glycolic peels can be thought of as “glue-dissolving” in that they dissolve the binders that naturally exist between skin cells. The higher the percentage of glycolic acid, the deeper the penetration and the deeper “ungluing”.

Glycolic peels can be surprisingly effective and even in the face of today’s lasers, often they can provide near-same levels of improvement for a wide variety of skin aging and skin problems.

  • fine lines and wrinkles
  • skin clarity
  • dark spots
  • mild to moderate acne
  • superficial acne scarring
  • pre-cancers (actinic keratosis) and/or benign spots
  • razor bumps
  • keratosis pillaris (chicken skin)

The NeoStrata Peel line called Skin Renewal Peel is a 100% free acid peel made to maximize bioavailability and contains variations of 20% to 70% Glycolic Acid to help improve visible skin imperfections by exfoliating the dead surface layers of the skin and stimulating cell renewal to uncover healthier cells.

*It is important to note that not every patient will be able to work up to a 70% peel, nor is it necessary in order to continue to provide benefit. Lower percentage peels such as the 20% and 35% are advantageous for darker skin types who may be at risk for pigmentary disorders and healing concerns.
