Radiesse Dermal Filler
Instant volume for cheeks, chin and pre jowl area
Facial volume loss is the biggest factor in how you look as you age. There is a literal change from the youthful “V” shape to a more box-like shape. Radiesse is designed to create a 3D lift effect and more definitive contouring. How do you get the “V” shape back?
What makes Radiesse different?
Radiesse® is a high-viscosity filler with longer term action than Hyaluronic gels, natural elasticity and collagen-stimulating power. For dermal support to improve facial shape, Radiesse has remarkable staying power. The tiny microspheres – made of a calcium-based material – provide a scaffolding into which your body’s own tissue can grow and maintain the microspheres in place
Because of the density of Radiesse, it is used often to alter the shape the nose, augment the chin or cheekbone area and is used to provide a more masculine jawline for men. Once injected, it feels perfectly natural and no one would suspect you have had filler injected.
Radiesse “degrades” much more slowly than hyaluronic gel fillers and thus can provide improvements up to 18 months.

What makes Radiesse last so long?
Radiesse consists of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in gel (carboxymethylcellulose). Because calcium hydroxylapatite is a normal constituent of bone, it should not elicit a chronic inflammatory or immune response. The microspheres of CaHA have been shown to last up to seven years clinically. Radiesse should provide a long lasting correction, however individual results may vary, affected by age, skin type, lifestyle and muscle activity.
What areas respond best to Radiesse treatments?
- Back of hands to obscure veins and bones
- Nasolabial Folds ( Laugh lines )
- Marionette Lines
- Chin & Cheek augmentation
- Restore bulk to aging tissues
What are Radiesse treatments like?
Radiesse is injected as most other fillers but for some areas can be injected more deeply for structural support. Injection pain is minimized or eliminated by use of smooth tip microcannulas and an integrated anesthetic. Following the procedure, patients may immediately return back to daily activities, however, treatment sights may be swollen for 1-2 days. There is also a small potential for bruising at the injection site, which may be covered with makeup.
How long will the results last?
Depending on the areas treated, most of the correction may last for many months, or even years. Dr. Pilest’s patients usually see results that last between 9 to 12 months. Touch up treatments may be necessary to maintain desired correction.
Can other filler products be used along with Radiesse?
Restylane, Juvederm, Belotero or other dermal fillers may be used as layers to fill the more superficial lines and wrinkles. There is no restriction to using additional fillers. Radiesse is not used in our office for lip augmentation to prevent the possibility of nodules which could form in the lip.
