What’s the Difference Between Juvederm and Radiesse?

These days, it seems as though there are a number of anti-aging fillers for you to choose from. Two of the most popular options – Juvederm and Radiesse – both promise to minimize wrinkles and fine lines, all while adding youth-enhancing volume to key facial areas. Both have high patient satisfaction ratings, with results lasting anywhere from six to twelve months.

But when it comes down to it, what’s the difference between Juvederm and Radiesse?

What You Should Know About Juvederm

Juvederm is an FDA-approved dermal filler that uses the power of hyaluronic acid to add volume and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The hyaluronic acid gel acts as scaffolding underneath the skin, which helps lift up areas that may be drooping or look hollow as a result of aging. This volumizing effect helps to soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles, thus resulting in a more youthful appearance that looks far more natural.

All About Radiesse

Radiesse is also an anti-aging filler, but instead of hyaluronic acid, this injection uses a calcium-based solution to add facial volume while smoothing away signs of wrinkles and fine lines. Additionally, the calcium formula of the gel helps to trigger the body’s collagen production, thus helping to create more youthful results for longer. Radiesse is best for areas like the jawline and cheeks; places that you want to create structure and global volumization. That is why many patients use it to treat wrinkled hands. Radiesse generally lasts longer than Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus, around 9-12 months.

The main difference between Juvederm and Radiesse can be found in what makes up their formula. Apart from that, both injections can help patients look younger, with results lasting more than six months.

"Dr Pilest was patient and took the time to address my concerns and to discuss his recommendations. He was very skillful and after the procedure I was given his cell phone number if I had any concerns or additional questions."
