Combination injectables certainly make a world of difference in the level of appearance improvements possible. Unfortunately, much of the media marketing makes it seem that single procedure will take care of it all. That’s seldom the case.
Injectables used for lifting of brow and volume replenishment
A typical “anti-aging” program that is used to solve these issues generally include a wrinkle relaxer like Botox or Dysport to eliminate frowns and winkle that are caused by muscle contraction, fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane to fill wrinkles and lines immediately caused by collagen, fat or bone loss and, when appropriate, collagen stimulation to gradually restore lost volume.
Again, media marketing often leads people to assume “one” syringe of a filler will make them look young again. But a 1 mL syringe of filler is equivalent to one fifth of a teaspoon – not much when trying to adequately obvious wrinkling or lines!
Temporary fillers are most often used since they provide instant changes and have the lowest incidence of side effects. Expect repeat injections in 6 to 9 months when using hyaluronic gels. (The exception to this is new Voluma, which has a 24 month “life” once injected.)
Collagen stimulation with Sculptra is sort of magic on its own. The response to the injection of the microparticles (which do degrade) the skin produces new collagen. This new collagen behaves as normal and has a satisfying effect well past 2 years. Sculptra used earlier tends to work faster – and less is required for volume loss in patients under 45 or so. Each patients is different and the responses are different, but it is not difficult to gauge the amount required to achieve the affect desired.
These injectables combined with a solid skin care program can keep anyone looking fresher and younger.
