Repeated sun exposure, and in some cases, exposure to heat as part of a working environment, result in mottling and brown spots on the skin.
Dark spots and pigmentation, especially on the face, are one
of the greatest appearance issues facing people today - especially in sunny climates as we experience here in Southern California.
Only by reducing the skin's ability to produce melanin (color-producing pigment)
can a person suffering from brown spots obtain a satisfactory clearing or blending of the affected skin.
*Advanced Cosmelan Protocol - Cosmelan Advanced treatment will include Super Prep which adds a full pass microdermabrasion and application of a 20% SaliPeel. These extra steps are performed prior to the application of the Cosmelan mask which is left on for 10 to 12 hours

Cosmelan®
Depigmentation treatment is very effective in the improvement of dark patches and brown
skin blemishes with a very high safety margin.
Cosmelan® Depigmentation
treatment’s principal action is the reduction and blending of melanin
patches on the face (melasma and chloasma).
Cosmelan® Depigmentation
treatment involves a very versatile, dynamic process which is easily
adapted to the needs of each individual patient.
Cosmelan® Depigmentation treatment action
is based on the inhibition of tyrosinase, a basic enzyme in the
melanin formation process. Several of the substances present in
the
Cosmelan® formula act by
blocking this melanin-producing
enzyme.
The techincal terminology is : Melanogenesis comprises the following stages:
TYROSINE proceeds to DOPA by means of TYROSINASE.
DOPA proceeds to DOPAQUINONE by means of TYROSINASE.
DOPAQUINONE proceeds to PHAEOMELANINE and
EUMELANIN by means of oxidation and cyclization.
In every day language, it simply means that your skin is making too much melanin and when it surfaces, you have brownish patches on your skin that are very resistant to lightening efforts.
The Cosmelan® Depigmentation treatment
offers a series of major advantages and benefits compared with other
types of depigmentation products found in the market:
• Very efficient in all types of melasma and pigmentation problems
• Rapid and easy depigmentation action
• Compatible with ALL skin types (Fitzpatrick I – VI)
• Light peeling effectrejuvenates and restores luminosity of the
skin
• Treatment can start and be used all year round
• Very effective for acne patients
• No Hydroquinone
• No TCA
• High safety margin
In most cases, the brown areas begin lightening rapidly.
ONE WEEK after starting the Cosmelan® Depigmentation
treatment, a noticeable significant improvement of the skin is observed.
At the end of the Cosmelan® Depigmentation
treatment, the areas start to fade away altogether, so that,
although the patient may be able to “locate” the place
where the discoloration was, the truth is that the pigmentation will have
blended usually to the point that a casual observer would not notice it. Some patients have especially dramatic response.
