Procedure DetailsPhoto Dynamic Therapy is a 2 step system for destroying bacterial and the diseased cells associated with acne. A light-activated solution acts as an "acne killer" deep within the follicles where the acne bacteria accumulate and multiply. The process also tends to slow down and partially disable the oil-producing sebaceous glands, further reducing acne breakouts. The procedure does have its side effects. Patients will experience redness, peeling and light sensitivity which requires staying inside for 48 hours following treatment. However, for patients who experience resistant and cystic acne, the side effects of the treatment are deemed tolerable and acceptable given the improvement seen in appearance. |
