"I sailed through my interview - looking refreshed after my treatments. The interviewer said he liked hiring younger people. As it turns out, I'm older than he is! Thank you! " Rebecca H, age 52, Fraxel and Dysport

Procedure Details for Acne Scarring using Fraxel RestoreAcne scars represent loss of skin tissue on a deep level. To create stimulation of collagen to restore some of that lost tissue, laser is used to heat the skin at appropriate levels to cause a controlled injury. You naturally ask why we would purposefully injure the skin. The reason is that the skin responds to injury by activating fibroblast activity to create repairing collagen fibers. Thus...a controlled injury with a type of healing response! To make the process manageable, a series of treatments are planned to provide the necessary required cumulative effects. Each time the skin is "injured" with the laser, more collagen is produced to smooth the skin and build up new tissue beneath the scar. Dr. Pilest has found Fraxel Restore to be a highly effective treatment for scars of all depths, but particularly scars which are pronounced and require customizable energy application. Mild to moderate scarring can be treated with either Fraxel Restore or eMatrix (a non-laser system with similar effects but is a bit kinder to ethnic skin) |
